Extended Information

Wells

Wells are the primary source of fresh water to the people of Burkina Faso. Some children get their drinking water from standing pools of water that are jointly shared with livestock. Many of the wells that provide fresh water are not accurately secured and therefore children have fallen into them. Unfortunately, some children have been killed. For obvious reasons, once a child has died from falling into a well, it is no longer a source of water for the village. Our goal is to secure those dangerous wells and provide new wells for the village.

Well Facts

  • 80 Wells that are dried up
  • 42 Open wells that children have fallen into and survived
  • 10 Open wells that children have fallen into and died
  • 2 Wells with spinning wheels
  • 134 Total wells in Nimina
  • 44 Usable wells in Nimina

Educational System in Burkina Faso

The educational system in Burkina Faso requires families of children wanting to attending school to provide basic school supplies along with transportation to and from school. The school itself has not been changed or updated for over 4 decades. Most families are struggling to provide food for their children, school and supplies are a luxury most families cannot afford.

Scholarship Opportunities

Provide funding for children who would like to continue their education beyond what is available in their small villages. Education is the building block of success, creating change and improvement in these small villages.

Fundraising

WTSF holds several fundraising events throughout the year. Our largest fundraiser is held annually in February. Chef Tony (our founder) prepares an amazing dinner. We celebrate the Burkina Faso Nimina culture by having musicians provide cultural music and dance. There is also a silent auction at this event.

Accomplishments

Since WTSF was founded we have helped over 80 children and their families significantly improve their lives and education. However, we are not done! Would you consider contributing to and investing in the lives of these children and families? Here is how:

  • A onetime donation (please see below)
  • Monthly support (please see below)
  • Praying for our mission and the families in need
